Noshville's Last Year on Hillsboro Circle, and the New Tables Opening Around It

On the short stretch of Hillsboro Circle behind the Mall at Green Hills, two restaurant addresses sit almost next to each other. At 4014, Noshville has served New York-style deli food since 2005. Its owners have set a final date. At 4106, the building that was a Wendy's for years started serving fried chicken and cocktails in mid-September. One restaurant is counting down and the other is just getting going, and a third opened a day later around the corner on Richard Jones Road. Together they show these blocks changing hands, and Noshville's closing is one part of that change.

A Lease Date

Noshville's Green Hills deli will close on June 30, 2027, when its parent company's lease expires, according to the Nashville Post. As of this week, that leaves about eight months of matzo ball soup, corned beef, and diner booths.

The history explains why this location matters. Tom Loventhal opened the first Noshville at 1918 Broadway in Midtown in 1996. Green Hills followed in 2005, and locations in Cool Springs and at Nashville International Airport opened in 2007. The Midtown original closed in 2015. The airport location ran for 14 years, and the Cool Springs location has also closed. For more than a decade, Green Hills has been where the brand lasted. Hillsboro Circle has outlasted every other Noshville address.

The Tennessean, which broke the news on July 22, 2026, reported that the owners pointed to rising costs, more restaurant competition, and trouble hiring staff. The paper said they decided to "go out on a high note." That's a planned ending with almost a year's notice. It gives regulars time for the last orders they've been putting off.

The Name Has Already Changed Hands

There's a second part to the story. The Tennessean reported that Noshville's owners recently sold the business's name to Ben Weprin, founder and CEO of the Nashville real estate investment and development firm AJ Capital Partners. The Nashville Post summarized that report. The Nashville Business Journal wrote that Weprin wants to preserve the brand.

AJ Capital is redeveloping the former Belle Meade Plaza site into the mixed-use Belle Meade Village. Its first buildings are slated to open in 2028. No one has announced that Noshville will reopen there or anywhere else. The building's lease ends in mid-2027, and the name now belongs to someone who has said he wants to keep it going. The June 30 date ends a lease on Hillsboro Circle. It doesn't necessarily end Noshville.

Two Doors Opened in Two Days

Meanwhile, the blocks around the deli are getting new restaurants. Two opened back to back in September, and they're very different from each other.

Waldo's Chicken & Beer, 4106 Hillsboro Circle

Waldo's opened its Green Hills location on Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the former longtime Wendy's at 4106 Hillsboro Circle, Davidson County Source reported. The menu is built around Southern fried and rotisserie chicken served as sandwiches, baskets, bowls, and plates, along with house-made sides, signature sauces, cheese biscuits, beer, and cocktails. It's open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The building itself shows the change. A national fast-food drive-thru became a regional chicken restaurant with a bar, on the same street as a deli that has been there for two decades.

Lupo Notte, Vertis Green Hills, 2035 Richard Jones Road

A day later, on Sept. 16, Lupo Notte opened at Vertis Green Hills. It's the first full-service restaurant from Nashville-based Southern Land Company, and it sits inside the company's flagship mixed-use community and headquarters, Southern Land announced. When the developer that built a property also runs a restaurant inside it, the restaurant is a long-term bet on the site.

The menu is upscale Italian. Starters include the signature Lupo Meatballs, made with ground wagyu, Italian sausage, and veal. Mains include snapper in tomato broth and a sweet corn-filled agnolotti. The 12-inch Neapolitan-style pizzas use a 48-hour fermented dough and bake in a three-deck oven, with toppings ranging from a classic Margherita to soppressata with Calabrian honey. The drinks list leans on Italian-inspired cocktails and a wine list heavy on Italian varietals.

Dinner runs 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. At opening, Southern Land said lunch service would start in October and online ordering would follow later this fall, so check luponotte.com before planning a midday visit. Reservations are available on the restaurant's site and through OpenTable.

Planning a Night Around These Blocks

With all three places open, you can build a full evening without driving into the mall garage. Here are a few combinations based on the hours above:

  • An early weeknight family dinner: Waldo's opens at 11 a.m. and stays open until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, so it works when a reservation is more effort than the evening needs.
  • A proper dinner out: Book Lupo Notte for 7 p.m. on a Friday and you still have time before the 11 p.m. close for a second glass from the Italian list.
  • A Noshville farewell tour: Go before June 30, 2027. Order the dish you always meant to try and the one you've ordered for years.
  • Stay at Vertis: The development's retail directory also lists True Food Kitchen, Char, Santo, and Brixx Wood Fire Pizza, plus CorePower Yoga, PAINT Nail Bar, Spoke & Weal, and The Set. A yoga class followed by dinner downstairs is a whole evening on one property.

Shopping on the Pike has changed too. British clothing brand Boden opened Aug. 1 at Hill Center Green Hills, 4025 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 505, according to The Nashville Guru. And Green Hills restaurant etc. spent August 2026 celebrating its tenth year with returning menu favorites, anniversary specials, and a neighborhood scavenger hunt, according to Visit Music City. Some longtime restaurants are marking milestones while others count down.

What the Calendar Holds Through 2028

Noshville's last day is one of several dates coming up nearby. Here they are in order:

  1. This fall: Lupo Notte's planned lunch service and online ordering, per Southern Land's opening announcement.
  2. Early 2027: The Green Hills Branch Library at 3701 Benham Ave. is expected to reopen. It has been closed for a full renovation since Jan. 4, 2026. The Nashville Public Library says the plan includes a new children's area and more meeting space. Until then, patrons are directed to other branches, and the outdoor book return is unavailable.
  3. 2027: La La Land Kind Cafe is listed as coming to 4012 Hillsboro Pike, according to The Nashville Guru.
  4. 2027: Harvey's New York Style Bagels is also listed for 2027, farther north at 3304 Hillsboro Pike, per The Nashville Guru. If it opens on schedule, it could arrive in the same year the neighborhood's longtime New York-style deli closes.
  5. June 30, 2027: Noshville serves its last day at 4014 Hillsboro Circle.
  6. 2028: The first buildings at Belle Meade Village, AJ Capital's redevelopment of the former Belle Meade Plaza, are slated to open.

Expected opening dates often slip, so treat items 3 and 4 as plans. Noshville's date is fixed by a lease, so it's the one most likely to hold. Book your last few deli lunches with that in mind.
